Park City experiences some pretty severe electrical storms in the spring and fall. You should protect all your electrical equipment from a possible lightning strike. Surge Protectors are great for normal surges of electricity; however, lightning produces such high voltage the spike can jump right through the jewels in a surge protector.
Whenever we have a lightning storm approaching or you are going to be gone from your home or business during lightning season, you should unplug all the computer equipment from the wall outlet including peripheral devices. Move all the power cords as far from the outlet as they will go. DO NOT forget to unplug your phone line from the modem port. If you have a plastic milk jug, put the end of phone line down in the jug so electricity is less likely to arc from the phone line to the modem port. These precautions will better ensure your computers survival during electrical storms. FOR MORE ASSISTANCE AND TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT
